РФ больше не требует «денацификации» Украины, но хочет быть гарантом безопасности – FT

The next round of talks between Ukraine and Russia will take place in Istanbul on March 29. The Financial Times writes about the positions of the parties in the negotiations.

According to four sources, Russia no longer demands from Ukraine “denazification”, “demilitarization” and legal protection of the Russian language.

Instead, the neutral status of Kyiv, Ukraine's renunciation of NATO membership, the development of nuclear weapons and the deployment of foreign military bases are being discussed. Ukraine's accession to the EU fits into the framework of “neutrality” as seen by the Kremlin.

Russia, which has invaded our country, also continues to offer itself as a guarantor of Ukraine's security. The guarantor countries may also be: the United States, Great Britain, Canada, France, Germany, China, Italy, Poland, Israel, and Turkey.

One of the most difficult issues is the deoccupation of the Ukrainian Donbass and Crimea. Journalists suggest that it may be postponed until a personal meeting between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin .

Ukraine continues to insist that it does not recognize the occupied territories as Russian, but is ready to discuss the rejection of violent deoccupation, the report said.

As reported by ZN.UA , during the talks, Russia put forward six conditions for Ukraine, the first five of which, as Putin sees it, should be enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine.

  1. Give up the movement in NATO. Neutral status of Ukraine, one of the guarantors of which Russia is ready to attack our country.
  2. Recognize Russian as the second state language and repeal all laws restricting it.
  3. Recognize the occupied Crimea as Russian.
  4. Recognize the “independence of L-DNR” within the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions (including territories controlled by Ukraine).
  5. Carry out “denazification”.
  6. Carry out the “demilitarization of Ukraine” with the complete abandonment of offensive weapons, under which, if desired, you can bring any type of weapon.

On March 25, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Ukraine and Russia were close to reaching a consensus on four of the six points : language, NATO membership, “demilitarization” and collective security. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba denied that the countries had reached an agreement on the issues mentioned by Erdogan.
