This is a record competition for the position of a judge.
For 16 vacancies for members of the Higher Qualification commission of judges applied for 250 candidates, said lawyer, chairman of the board of the DEJURE Foundation Mykhailo Zhernakov.
“This is more than 15 people per seat. I do not remember such a competition for judicial positions. For comparison, there were about 9 before the Supreme Court and the High Anti-Corruption Court,” he noted.
At the same time, Zhernakov said that among the candidates there are many reputable judges, lawyers, scientists and other legal practitioners. However, such a number of applicants will create a tremendous burden on the Competition Commission for the selection of members of the VKKS, and on all those who analyze the candidates and follow the process.
“But this is also a very high chance that 32 truly worthy finalists will make it to the finals. And already from them the Supreme Council of Justice should select 16 members of the Supreme Court of Justice. This is another reason why the competition for the Supreme Administrative Court, which is currently underway, should end with the best result,” the lawyer emphasized.
We note that the High Qualification Commission of Judges and the High Council of Justice should recruit about 3,000 judges in the near future. or almost half of the entire judicial body in Ukraine, which will determine what the justice system of Ukraine will look like in the next 30 years.
