US senators are proposing to return the seized Russian assets to Ukraine

The United States has proposed a bill that would direct the seized Russian assets to a fund to help Ukrainian refugees and rebuild Ukraine.

Colorado Senators Michael Bennett and Ohio's Rob Portman have initiated the transfer of the arrested Russian state to funds set up to support Ukrainian refugees and rebuild Ukraine, Axios reports.

The bill, proposed by senators from two parties, is an important signal for Ukraine. This shows that the US Congress is closely monitoring all sanctions and trying to coordinate in the right direction where the seized assets will go.

“One way to help is to move from freezing the assets of Russian oligarchs and wealthy citizens to arresting their fortunes and providing this funding to the people of Ukraine to address current humanitarian issues,” said Rob Portman.

The senators stressed that their legislative initiative should clearly show what the war in Ukraine will cost the president of Russia and the oligarchs.

“Our bill is forcing Putin and Russian oligarchs to pay the price, ensuring that the money from their confiscated assets goes directly to the Ukrainian people to support them through the many difficult years before resettlement, reconstruction and reconstruction,” Michael Bennett said.

According to the bill, the assistance fund to Ukraine will be managed by the State Department in consultation with the United States Agency for International Development.

It will be recalled that the United States has announced a reward for information about the assets of Russian oligarchs and corrupt officials.
