The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has sent a note to Belarus on the reduction of the Belarusian embassy in Ukraine to five. This was announced by the Speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko in a comment to NV.
Diplomatic accreditation of other employees of the diplomatic mission is canceled. Now their stay, as well as the stay of their families in our country is undesirable.
“After the return of Belarusian diplomats to Ukraine, the principle of reciprocity establishes a permit regime for them to move outside the 40-kilometer zone from the center of Kiev,” the media quoted Nikolenko as saying.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced a decision to cancel the exequatur of the Honorary Consul of Belarus in Lviv. This is in accordance with Article 25 of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
“Such decisions are the response of our state to the unfriendly actions of Belarus against employees of diplomatic missions of Ukraine in Minsk and Brest,” Nikolenko said.
The Foreign Ministry also warned that all subsequent unfriendly steps of Belarus will receive a response from the Ukrainian side.

It will be recalled that on March 23, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said that the country's authorities had decided to expel some Ukrainian diplomats and close the Consulate General of Ukraine in Brest.
