The representative of the European Commission emphasized that Ukraine has the right to protection from the aggressor.
At the European Commission in response to Amnesty International's scandalous report declared that everything that happened and is happening in Ukraine is a direct consequence of the unprovoked war that Russia started against Ukraine on the latter's territory.
“Everything that was done in Ukraine is a direct consequence of Russia's illegal, unjustified, unprovoked aggression, which kills the civilian population, destroys the Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, targeting pensioners, women, children, hospitals, railway stations. Russia attacks civilian targets, the Ukrainian army is fighting this aggression and trying to protect the civilian population,” European Commission representative Peter Stano commented on Amnesty International's report on Tuesday in Brussels at a briefing.
He emphasized that in such situations, when the Ukrainian army defends the country against Russian aggression , “of course, there should be defensive military equipment,” and added that the civilian population also lives in the areas under attack by Russian troops.
“This is another example of how inhumane and illegal Russian aggression against Ukrainians is,” said a representative of the European Commission.
At the same time, he did not comment on the content of the report, as well as the reaction it caused.
