The US Treasury Secretary warned of the economic and financial consequences.
US Treasury Secretary Janet Ellen has warned that China and other countries that try to help Russia circumvent Western sanctions could suffer economic and financial consequences. This was reported by Ukrainian Pravda with reference to the Financial Times.
Ellen noted that the United States is ready to act in the event of an attempt by countries close to Russia to undermine a large-scale package of sanctions imposed by Western allies after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. >
In particular, she drew attention to China and other countries that avoid decision-making “and may see an opportunity to benefit by maintaining their relations with Russia and filling the void left by others.”
” The coalition of countries imposing sanctions will not be indifferent to actions that undermine them, “the US Treasury Secretary said.
Janet Ellen also warned: “China cannot expect the world community to respect its calls for the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity in the future if it does not respect these principles now that it matters.” >
According to her, the world's attitude to China and its further economic integration may be affected by China's reaction to the US call for decisive action against Russia.
Earlier it became known that China makes semi-secret supplies anti-aircraft missile systems to Serbia.
