Prime Minister of Ireland Michal Martin arrived on Wednesday, July 6, to Kyiv to express support for the Ukrainian people, the Irish publication The Irish Times reported.
“Bombing and attacks on civilians are nothing but acts of war crimes and I will use my visit to express Ireland's support for measures to bring to justice those behind these attacks,” Martin said ahead of the trip.
He noted that Ireland would support Ukraine before Russia's “immoral and unprovoked terrorist war”.
In Kyiv, Martin will meet with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, and will also discuss with the Ukrainian authorities how Ireland and the EU can support the current and future needs of the country.< /p>
Also, as part of his visit to Ukraine, the head of the Irish government will personally see the destruction caused by the bombings and the targets repeated attacks on the civilian population during the invasion and occupation by Russian forces.
“The spirit and determination of the Ukrainian people has inspired us all and Ireland will provide every support on Ukraine's path to full EU membership and will continue to welcome and support civilians who are escaping from this war,” assured the prime minister.
The publication reminds that Martin was invited to Ukraine by President Zelensky last month. The exact details of the visit were not disclosed for security reasons, but it was expected that Martin would arrive in Kyiv traditionally by rail.

It should be noted that Ireland has frozen assets of Russians worth €1.7 billion. They included the funds of Russian oligarchs, as well as enterprises and institutions related to them.
