The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine confirmed that recognized the diplomatic passports of 225 people's deputies as invalid. The decision was made after the People's Deputies repeatedly ignored requests to submit documents, in accordance with the requirements of the law, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported in a comment to “Ukrainian Pravda”.
There they said that in recent months the Ministry had repeatedly asked the deputies to return their diplomatic passports , and also interacted with the Verkhovna Rada to organize this process.
“The last time we asked to hand in passports was in July. All our appeals were ignored. Accordingly, guided by the legislation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine invalidated 225 diplomatic passports of people deputies who were not timely returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for safekeeping,” the press service stated.

The ministry also explained that deputies receive diplomatic passports only for official business trips. According to the relevant provision approved by the decree of the President of Ukraine, the document must be returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for safekeeping within ten days after the end of the trip. In addition, it is strictly forbidden to use diplomatic passports for private trips.
At the same time, the department emphasized that they will “immediately” issue new diplomatic passports to people's deputies in the event of the need for official business trips from the parliament.
