Western governments are alarmed by the deepening of Turkey's ties with Russia – FT

Erdogan risks being sanctioned himself if he helps Putin bypass them.

The governments of Western countries are increasingly worried about the deepening economic ties between Turkey and Russia, Reuters reports with reference to Saturday's issue of the Financial Times newspaper.

The newspaper predicts a growing risk that Turkey may face punitive measures in response if it helps Russia avoid sanctions .

Recall that on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to expand cooperation in the fields of transport, agriculture, finance and construction.

Turkey acted as a mediator in the agreement , signed by Ukraine, Russia and the United Nations in Istanbul last month, according to which grain exports and from the Black Sea ports of Ukraine was restored after several months of blocking.
