Putin told the Italian prime minister that a ceasefire in Ukraine is “not relevant yet.”
The head of the Council of Ministers of Italy Mario Draghi said that his country could be among the countries guaranteeing the implementation of agreements between Ukraine and Russia, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“Ukraine and Russia have asked Italy to guarantee the implementation of the provisions of a possible agreement between them,” Draghi said.
During a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Draghi expressed confidence that Putin's meeting with Zelensky was needed to address key issues.
“Putin told me that the time has not yet come for that,” said the Italian prime minister.
Draghi stressed that Putin had explained to him that it was too early to talk about a ceasefire in Ukraine.
