“The war mobilized not only our army, but also all of us all state bodies. We are all currently working at the limit of our capabilities. Great physical and moral load. Unfortunately, Mr. Demchenko's health does not allow him to work with such a load now,” Nikiforov said in a comment to the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
He added that the decision to change the staff of the first deputy secretary of the National Security Council was made by the president solely on this basis.
“As for everything else, Mr. Demchenko served Ukraine with faith and truth throughout his professional and diplomatic career. Any mention of any rumors and gossip, baseless accusations are inappropriate here,” added Nikiforov.
It will be recalled that on July 25, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a decree on the dismissal of Ruslan Demchenko from the post of First Deputy Secretary of the National Security Council. In addition to this position, Ruslan Demchenko was also the head of the Intelligence Committee under the President of Ukraine. According to the media, this position will now be taken by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov.

Earlier, ZN.UA reported that the experienced diplomat Ruslan Demchenko worked in the presidential office during the time of President Viktor Yushchenko. During the time of fugitive president Viktor Yanukovych, Demchenko was the first deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. In the foreign policy department, he dealt with the Russian direction and participated in the preparation of the Kharkiv agreements. During the time of President Petro Poroshenko, Demchenko was an adviser to the head of state and worked with him on the documents of the “first Minsk”. Demchenko was also an adviser to President Zelensky. He was involved in the “Minsk process” and the release of hostages held by Russia.
