If the occupiers organize a trial against the defenders of Mariupol, Ukraine will leave the table.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called negotiations with the aggressor country impossible if it arranges a trial for the captured defenders of Mariupol.
“There are now enough reports in the mass media that Mariupol is preparing the scenery for an absolutely disgusting and absurd trial of Ukrainian defenders. No matter what the occupiers are planning, the reaction of our state will be absolutely clear: if this despicable trial takes place, it will be the line along which any negotiations are impossible,” he emphasized during the evening address.
Russia will cut itself off from the negotiations and Ukraine will not agree on anything else, Zelenskyy emphasized.
“Ukraine will not tolerate bullying of people about whom one can only say one thing: they are heroes of their Motherland and they defended the freedom of their people from the invaders,” the president added.
The occupiers can hold a demonstration “process” on August 24, the Independence Day of Ukraine. Cages are already being installed on the stage of the chamber philharmonic hall in Mariupol, the mayor Vadim Boychenko said.
Military experts believe that the invaders may stage another terrorist attack similar to of the Olenivka tragedy by firing at the philharmonic hall from Point U missile systems – a tactical weapon that is in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian army (although the Russian Federation denies this from time to time).

Negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation are currently on hold. Kyiv is ready to return to the table only after the military defeat of Moscow. Any negotiations up to this point will only give the Russian Federation the necessary pause so that its army can regroup, replenish reserves and continue combat operations.
