The President called on the local authorities to control the frugal consumption of electricity.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening address again touched on the topic of power cuts against the background of Russia's attacks on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
As of the evening of November 3, consumers in Kyiv and Kyiv region were temporarily disconnected from consumption, on About 4.5 million consumers in Dnipropetrovsk region, Zhytomyr region, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy region, Kirovohrad region, Kharkiv region, Chernihiv region, Khmelnytskyi region and Cherkasy region.
“To endure the Russian energy terror, to pass such a test is our national task, one of the main ones now. The very fact that Russia resorted to terror against the energy industry shows the weakness of the enemy. They cannot defeat Ukraine on the battlefield and that is why they are trying to break our people like this,” the president emphasized.
Zelensky called on local authorities to control electricity consumption and to abandon “bright shop windows, signs, advertisements” and other commercial lighting.
He also appealed to energy companies to build simple and clear communication with consumers, to explain to people when and why the lights go out on a certain street or in a certain area.
“If consumers reach out and report unfairness, please respond immediately. Work together with local authorities. If someone is without electricity for eight or ten hours, and everything is connected across the street, it is definitely unfair. Everything must be done to ensure that the shutdowns are predictable and completely understandable for consumers,” the president urged.
