The Russian Federation should be recognized as a terrorist state and isolated.
In response to Russia's attempts to annex Donetsk, Luhansk , Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, Ukraine adopted a number of decisions to strengthen its security and the security of the Euro-Atlantic space, the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine says. Kyiv also calls on partners to take decisive and urgent action to protect the international legal order.
Arranged by the Russian leadership the performance with the signing of “accession agreements” will not have any legal consequences for the administrative-territorial system or internationally recognized borders of Ukraine, the statement emphasizes.
The territories temporarily occupied by Russia will continue to be considered sovereign territories of Ukraine. And the actions of the occupier are legally void according to international law.
The ministry emphasizes that the illegal attempt to annex Ukrainian territories is part of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and the deliberate destruction of the UN Charter.
“Russia is deliberately escalating the situation and shows complete contempt for all countries and international organizations that called on it for negotiations and peace. The Kremlin attempted to annex Ukrainian territories despite the Ukrainian side's warning that this step would put an end to any diplomatic efforts,” the diplomats noted.
In response to this Ukraine announced its intention to join NATO under accelerated procedure; announced the intensification of efforts to increase aid from partners, as well as speeding up the implementation of security guarantees in accordance with the Kyiv Security Treaty.
“Ukraine and the world will never recognize Russian attempts to establish control over Ukrainian land and will not agree to illegal Russian ultimatums. Realizing its legal right to self-defense, Ukraine will continue to restore its territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders,” the statement emphasized.
Kyiv calls on partners to accelerate the provision of all necessary military, economic and financial assistance to our country, as well as to introduce additional tough sanctions against Russia.
Russia and its leadership should be isolated from the civilized world and excluded from international organizations. Ukraine insists on the need to legally and politically recognize Russia as a terrorist state.
“We call on every state to support the initiative to create a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine, initiated by the Ukrainian side in order to hold the top military and political leadership of Russia accountable for the criminal war against Ukraine,” the statement concludes.
