The US Secretary of State met with the Chinese Foreign Minister in New York.
Russia is losing the war against Ukraine, but is desperately trying to cling to the possibility of revenge, looking for allies in the eastern part of the planet. In particular, Putin is counting on the support of China, which has so far tried to pursue a cautious policy regarding the invasion of the Russian Federation. The USA warned the PRC and any other states against helping the aggressor country, promising restrictive measures in response. This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yiduring the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
“The Secretary of State reiterated that the United States of America condemns Russia's war against Ukraine and emphasized the consequences if China supports Moscow's invasion of a sovereign state. He emphasized that the United States remains open to cooperation with the PRC where their interests intersect,” said the report published on the State Department's website.
In addition, the diplomats discussed the situation around Taiwan. Blinken stressed that the United States is committed to maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait in accordance with the long-standing “one China” policy. The Secretary of State stressed that maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait area is critical to regional and global security and prosperity.
