The President of Ukraine called on the aggressor to withdraw the military from the ZNPP and ensure the unhindered access of the IAEA mission.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres the parameters of the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is supposed to inspect the Zaporizhia NPP captured by the Russians.
“The mission can get to the station very quickly and quite safely, in a legal way, through the free territory of our state and only in this way. The one who staged nuclear blackmail definitely cannot be the transporter of such missions,” he emphasized during the evening address.
Zelensky called on Russia to immediately withdraw its troops from the territory of the nuclear plant and provide experts with unhindered access to it.
“The world has the power to ensure this. If it does not provide, it means that you can simply throw the entire body of international documents on nuclear and radiation safety into the trash. Russia is destroying this international order,” he added.

Moscow, whose troops regularly shell the station's territory, refuses to create a demilitarized zone around the Zaporizhzhia NPP. To avoid a man-made disaster, Guterres proposed to create a suitable zone. The initiative has already been supported by Ukraine, the USA and the EU.
