The war in Ukraine allowed to change relations in the Western world.
Russia's war in Ukraine has created the conditions for a reset of the West to rebuild the new policy of the future, including relations with major geopolitical partners such as China, wrote in his article for ZN.UA “War with Russia: five important conclusions after Rammstein” former foreign minister Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin.
“In the case of the current Russian regime, the West has decided to radically change its strategy. Allowing a revanchist and unpredictable regime to win would ruin the West's image as a concept, and in the future would give China a trump card for cynical use of this fact. That is why the strategy has changed from conditionally “containment” to “isolation and weakening”, – says the former chief diplomat of Ukraine.
According to him, now the event has become “collective” again and has reached a fundamentally different level of Western solidarity. In particular, as a collective body, he regained the ability to make difficult but unanimous decisions, and American leadership is no longer so clear.
Klimkin notes that although at the beginning of the war in Ukraine in the US administration there was a consensus on helping Ukraine , however, there was no consensus on the real goals of aid.
“Instead, a few weeks ago, discussions turned to a consensus on Ukraine's victory and the need to do everything possible. This consensus is now the strategy of the whole “collective” West. The level of solidarity of the West is a new signal for everyone, including China – the West began to prepare for the 21st century and act as in the 21st century and showed that it is ready to achieve its goals, even if it requires sacrifices, “said the diplomat.
He stressed that the world is no longer ready to cooperate with Russia as it is now, so it will do everything possible to reset the country.
