The Verkhovna Rada dismissed Bakanov from the post of head of the SBU

Bakanov himself was not present in the hall, but expressed himself on social networks.

On July 19, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dismissed Ivan Bakanova from the post of Head of the Security Service of Ukraine. 265 deputies voted for the relevant decision.

As deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak noted, Ivan Bakanov was not in the hall during the vote, and the consideration of the issue was quite formal.

“We do not answer questions received, and regardless of who is elected, these questions will remain unanswered,” he quoted Sergei Rachmanin's speech before the vote.

The “Servant of the People” faction gave the most votes – 203, the decision was also supported by 11 deputies of “Batkivshchyna”, two from “Platform for Life and Peace”, 12 from the “For the Future” group, 17 deputies from the “Trust” group, 11 from “Restoration of Ukraine” and nine non-factional members.

Zheleznyak noted that the issue of appointing a new Head of the Security Service of Ukraine was not brought up for today's meeting.

At the same time, in his address on the official resources of the SBU, Ivan Bakanov stated that the result of his work in the service is “a self-sufficient value that does not depend on any subjective assessments, political intrigues and other prerequisites”.

“The SBU is not a political structure, and its Chairman is not a politician. We did business, not PR. We built the most transparent relations with society, which currently knows a lot about the achievements of the Service over the past 3 years,” he said.

Bakanov added that he did not manage to finish everything that was planned, and admitted that there were miscalculations in the work, “the reasons for which should be analyzed separately”.

The previous evening, as announced by ZN.UA, the President of Ukraine VolodymyrZelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a motion to dismiss Ivan Bakanov from the post of head of the Security Service of Ukraine, who was removed from his post by decree of July 17. The primary reason Zelensky called the deployment of collaborators, including in the SBU bodies.

Yes, on July 16 the State Bureau of Investigationdetained on suspicion of state treason of the former head of the SBU in the Republic of Crimea Oleg Kulinich. According to the investigation, the officer betrayed his oath back in 2014, after the occupation of the peninsula by Russia. According to our sources in the Service, Kulinich ruined the work of the Head of the SBU ARC.

Ivan Bakanov has held the position of head of the SBU since August 29, 2019. Before that, from December 2, 2017 to May 27, 2019, Bakanov was the head of the political party “Servant of the People”, and during the election campaign he managed the headquarters of Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

From 25 From January 2013, Bakanov was the head of “Kvartal 95” LLC, and from December 27, 2013 – the head of “Studio Kvartal-95” LLC.
