The USA commented on Ukraine's intentions to join NATO as soon as possible

In Washington, they support the “open door” policy, but believe that now is not the best time to discuss this issue.

National Security Adviser of the US President Jake Sullivan believes that the issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO is not the right time now, the practical support of the country in the fight against Russian aggression is more important.

“Right now, in our opinion, the best way for us to support Ukraine is through practical support on the ground. And the process in Brussels should be dealt with at another time,” Sullivan emphasizes.

According to Sullivan, the United States still supports the Alliance's “open door” policy. The adviser to the US president also emphasized that any decision on NATO membership should be made by consensus of 30 allies, as well as countries that want to join.
