The terms of the association agreement with the EU have already been fulfilled by 70%

Deputy Prime Minister Stefanyshyn announced Ukraine's readiness for the next stage of integration into the European Union.

Ukraine fulfilled its obligations under the Association Agreement with the European Union by almost 70% and wants to receive political clarity from the EU leaders on the next steps on this path by the end of the year, said the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna during opening of the “Together we are Europe” communication campaign.

According to her, Ukraine is aware of the need to complete all legal procedures for EU membership, but needs to understand how long and difficult our path to EU membership will be.

“We will really have to fulfill the necessary components for joining the EU. We have the energy and desire for this. The only thing we lack is political clarity regarding the next steps,” Ukrinform quotes Stefanishyna as saying.

At the same time, she added that Kyiv hopes that the procedure will not be too bureaucratic.

< p>“Of course, as a state, we demonstrate our ability to go through all the necessary legal procedures related to membership, but we do not want EU politicians and leaders to slide this process into bureaucracy. Considering the challenges that Ukraine is facing, and the fact that the commitment of the Ukrainian people and Ukraine to the principles of democracy is evident, as well as the fact that we have fulfilled almost 70% of all obligations under the Association Agreement, this gives us the opportunity to say that we it is not necessary to evaluate from scratch, but to make political decisions. And we want to get such political clarity by the end of the year,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

At the same time, she denied that Ukraine is trying to put pressure on the EU in this way, but simply wants to “provide people with a further sense of political activity “.

According to Stefanishona, Ukraine hopes, first of all, for help and clarification regarding the next steps in building opportunities and educating a new generation of civil servants.

“I really hope that we we won't hear anything negative from the EU leaders,” she added.
