The President of the Supreme Court confirmed the case of collaboration of a judge in Luhansk region

At present, the judicial system is working out a mechanism to neutralize collaborators, due to the lack of current GRP.

Supreme Court Chairman Vsevolod Knyazev confirms judge's collaboration from the Luhansk region with the Russian occupiers. Several other employees of the judicial system are under secret surveillance by the Security Service of Ukraine, Knyazev said in an interview with ZN.UA.

“Today, there are collaborators in all law enforcement agencies and public authorities. Courts are no exception. One case of treason is officially known. The judge and the chief of staff in the occupied territory of Luhansk region conspired with representatives of the Russian Federation. As a result, a criminal case was opened under Article 111 on treason. An investigation is underway. It is possible that several more people are being investigated, “he said.

He added that most judges have left the occupied territories and are now waiting to be sent to other courts.

“As for your question about hidden collaborators, of course, you won't read everyone's opinion. But, talking to judges of different levels, I feel that the majority have united in the desire to defend their country and work for it. Just like all over the country. The crimes of the Putin regime are so obvious that most Ukrainians are reluctant to take on all this shame, “Knyazev said.

The judge added that the justice system is looking for opportunities to make some point changes to the law to allow for the dismissal and prosecution of collaborating judges. At the same time, it is important not to violate the Constitution of Ukraine, which cannot be amended during the war.

“Non-release is also a direct signal to the system that anything is possible. This is what a working or non-working institution means. But reform is a very delicate matter, where the main thing is not only to change, but also not to harm in the pursuit of change, “Knyazev said.

He stressed that judges suspected of offenses in one way or another will not be able to continue to administer justice. After a special inspection by the SBU, they will not be transferred to the current court and will not have access to the register of court decisions.

Asked how many judges remained in the occupied territories, Knyazev said that such statistics were not kept because people were changing their whereabouts too quickly and chaotically.

“Those who may he is afraid to pass Russian checkpoints because of his status. We have a case when a car of a judge of the Chernihiv court, in which her whole family was, was shot right at the checkpoint. And some judges stay in touch and are waiting to be transferred to a new job immediately, “he added.

Ukraine's judiciary entered the war at the height of the reset of the main judiciary. Today, all VKKS and VSP reform processes are frozen. Some of the powers that are not specified in the Constitution have been transferred to the President of the Supreme Court.
