Critically important infrastructure will be restored with the funds.
The European Commission will support the project with restoration of destroyed infrastructure in de-occupied cities. This was reported by the representative of UNDP in Ukraine, Manal Fouani.
According to her, the EC will allocate 21 million dollars to support the program.
The funds will be directed to clearing the rubble of buildings and houses, repair and restoration strategic elements of the infrastructure (transformers, heating points, water pumps, heat and water supply pipes, water disinfection systems and equipment for the supply of renewable energy).
“The speedy repair of critical infrastructure in war-torn areas is a top priority, especially as a harsh winter looms. This project is aimed at restoring electricity and water supply facilities, as well as heat supply. These are vital services that provide residents with a dignified life and comfort. We must work with the government and local authorities to speed up such recovery efforts,” Fouani said in a statement published on the EU mission's website.
