EU Spokesperson for Foreign and Security Policy Peter Stano stated that everyone in the European Union understands that data that Ukraine allegedly sells weapons on the “black market”, which it receives from allies from the West, is a disinformation campaign launched by the Russian Federation. Stano told Ukrinform that this campaign was directed not only against Ukraine, but also against NATO and the EU.
“We cannot speak for NATO, but from the point of view of the EU, Russian propaganda and disinformation make such attempts very regularly and massively. In fact, all information coming from the Kremlin or from the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (of Russia – ed.), is such massive propaganda and ordinary lies,” Stano said.
He added that the mechanism that allows monitoring the equipment that Ukraine receives from partners already exists.
“Our aid is subject to strict controls and safeguards, including at the time it has already been delivered. This includes monitoring the use of such equipment, taking into account international norms regarding compliance with human rights and humanitarian law, as well as the possibility of regular information and /or on-site inspections of the current state of this equipment, when it is necessary and when the existing conditions allow it, explained Stano. – We have no reason not to trust the Government of Ukraine, which is fighting to protect its country and the people of Ukraine from violent aggression”.
