The EU has already prepared a “positive” and “negative” decision to grant Ukraine candidate status – media

The President of the European Commission should come to Kyiv to explain to Zelensky how our side can influence the right decision.

The European Union has prepared two decisions on granting Ukraine candidate status for admission. UE writes about it.

The first decision is “positive”, or plan A. He predicts that the European Commission will conclude that Ukraine meets the necessary criteria, after which the EU will grant us candidate status. All the next steps, such as negotiations, will begin after some reforms.

The second decision is “negative”, or Plan B. It is that Ukraine will already be given the conditions it must meet. After that, our country will become a “candidate for candidate.” The list of requirements can be prescribed by the European Commission in its results, so that it does not look like they are dictated by the capitals that initiated this plan.

At the summit in June, if the “negative decision” is supported, Ukraine will be called a “potential candidate”. Kyiv is receiving a legally recognized membership prospect, which has not yet been formally enshrined in any document.

Some European Commission officials say the “negative” plan will not be a betrayal. He is even specially merged in the media.

“But in the form of this 'victory', an EU source told reporters about Plan B, which would be an unconditional defeat for Kyiv. The EU has a letter on this issue, which has garnered unprecedented support, “the UE wrote.

According to media reports, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is due to visit Kyiv in the near future to tell President Volodymyr Zelensky how Ukraine can influence the situation so that the right decision can be made at the summit.
