The country's Foreign Ministry called on citizens to refrain from participating in the war against Ukraine.
Recently on the website of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation there was an appeal to citizens with an appeal to refrain from participating in hostilities on the territory of a foreign state and warned of criminal liability in case of violation of the law.
According to Article 154 on “hiring” of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, illegal participation in armed conflicts or military operations near and on the territory of foreign countries is considered a crime.
In case of violation of this law, the offender will be punished deprivation of liberty for up to 10 years.
Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges to refrain from participating in any volunteer battalions and reminds that once objective information is established on the violation of Article 154 of the Criminal Code, all those involved will be held responsible.
“The Embassy calls on our compatriots not to succumb to provocations and to show foresight ” – the statement says.
