The court banned the pro-Russian United Russia party, formerly named after Putin

With the name “Putin's Politics Party”, it once even tried to get into parliament.

Board of Judges of the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal in Lviv decided to ban the activities of the political party “United Russia”. The relevant decision on the lawsuit of the Ministry of Justice was approved on Friday, June 24.

The panel of judges of the Eighth AAS has completed consideration of the administrative case № 640/24270/21 on the ban of the United Russia Political Party. The court satisfied the claims of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine: the activity of the United Russia Political Party was banned; funds and other assets of the party, its regional, city, district organizations, primary branches and other structural entities were transferred to the state, “the court's press service said.

The pro-Russian political party Rus Yedina was registered in Ukraine in 2003 under the name “Slavic People's Patriotic Union”. Its co-chairs at the time were Oleksandr Hychko and Oleksiy Remenyuk.

In the 2004 presidential election, the party supported Viktor Yanukovych.

In November 2005, the political force changed its name to “Putin's Politics Party” and tried to run for parliament in the 2006 election, but did not get the required number of votes.

According to Youcontrol, as of June 21, 2022 There were 17 branches of the already banned party in Ukraine.

We will remind, on May 14, the president signed Law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on the Prohibition of Political Parties” . The document expands the list of grounds for banning a political party in court. In particular, the grounds are justification, recognition of the lawfulness or denial of armed aggression against Ukraine.

So far, the Ministry of Justice has filed lawsuits banning 12 parties : “Opposition Platform – For Life”, “Opposition Bloc” ”,“ Sharia Party ”,“ Nashi ”,“ Left Opposition ”,“ Union of Left Forces ”,“ State ”,“ Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine ”,“ Socialist Party of Ukraine ”,“ Socialists ”,“ Volodymyr Saldo Bloc ”,“ Russia is one. ”
