The right to protection of the state – Article 17 of the Constitution of Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi congratulated Ukrainians on Constitution Day , the basic law of Ukraine, the first three articles of which declare that Ukraine is a sovereign and independent, democratic, social, legal state, its sovereignty extends to its entire territory, and Man, his life and health, honor and dignity, inviolability and security are recognized in Ukraine as the highest social value.
“We adopted the basic law of the state 26 years ago. 26 years later, defending our state is our basic law. Why? The answer is in the preamble of the Constitution. The principles adopted in it are the principles of our struggle now, and they explain why and for what we are fighting. This is the right of the Ukrainian people to self-determination, “the head of state said.
The President added that the Constitution of Ukraine is our detailed portrait, and its norms allow us to decipher the genetic code of our nation and find answers to two main questions: what is Ukraine and who are Ukrainians.
He stressed that the sovereignty of our the state extends to the entire territory, and our territory within the existing borders is integral and inviolable, so our people in all parts of the country heroically fight for these principles and the second article of our Constitution.
“It simply came to our notice then. The norm for us is to protect other norms. Land is the main national wealth. We will fight for every meter of our land to the last breath. Because only the people can change the constitutional order in Ukraine. No one can usurp state power. We have the right to protest, assemble and demonstrate – this is a constitutional article, and someone – a criminal, “- said Zelensky.
He stressed that state symbols for Ukrainians are not symbolic formal in nature, but are a legacy of generations . As well as language and custom to respect other peoples and languages.
“The occupier was waiting for a hospitable reception, but received fierce resistance. Meeting not with bread and salt, but with “Stugna” and “Javelins”, “Bayraktar” and “Neptune”, “Alder” and “Hymars”. Our resistance has been going on for 125 days. For the world it is the eighth miracle, for the enemy it is the ninth shaft, and for us it is the 17th article of the Constitution of Ukraine. Defending Ukraine is the most important function of the state and the business of the entire Ukrainian people.
We have no choice but to defend our choice. It is our responsibility to protect our rights. Rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
An inalienable right to life that Russia has violated tens of thousands of times and claimed tens of thousands of lives. It is the inviolability of the home, which is violated daily and every night by its missiles, bombs and bullets. …
We are fighting for all this today. To defend, liberate and restore. For our future generations to have rights, our generation has no right to give up, “the President added.
The President noted that Ukraine has a long legal history, and victory is not far off.
