Ukrainians are gradually getting used to the idea of negotiations.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening address stated that Ukraine will definitely return its territories within the internationally recognized borders.
“Today we all feel elation together. I don't know if there is anyone who hasn't watched the video of our Kherson people meeting the Ukrainian defenders. Months of Russian occupation, months of abuse, months of stories that Russia is supposedly there forever, but still there is a sea of Ukrainian flags on the streets,” Zelenskyi said.
According to the president, this demonstrates to the world that Ukrainians will never give up on Ukraine. And our defenders will be met with flags in other temporarily occupied territories, in particular, in Crimea.
“We will see many more such meetings in those cities and villages that are still under occupation. We will not forget anyone, we will not leave anyone behind. Thanks to our military defense operations and diplomacy, we will go to our state border, to all sections of the internationally recognized border of Ukraine,” the president concluded.

The topic of the need for negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation has recently become more active in the public space. On November 6, the WSJ reported on non-public talks between Washington and Kyiv, during which representatives of the Joe Biden administration are trying to persuade Volodymyr Zelenskyi's office to demonstrate “openness to negotiations with the Russian Federation”.
On November 8, Zelenskyi named five conditions for negotiations with Russia. The publication Politico noted that the adjustment of the position of the Ukrainian president, who had previously refused to negotiate while the Russian Federation was ruled by Vladimir Putin, took place thanks to the “gentle nudge” of the USA.
