This is the Anti-War Committee set up by the Russian opposition.
Russian politicians and public figures, who created the Anti-War Committee after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine , called for closing the skies over the Ukrainian state. An address to the West, signed by 17 politicians and public figures, was posted on Facebook by former Kremlin political prisoner Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
The signatories note that the full-scale war against Ukraine, unleashed by Russia, was not provoked by anything. The document says that in the month since Ukraine resisted the Russian invaders, “thousands of people have died, including women, the elderly and children.”
“Massive aerial bombardment and rocket fire are destroying the civilian infrastructure, cities and villages of Ukraine. Mariupol was almost completely destroyed, Kharkiv, Izyum, Volnovakha, Kyiv and other cities were significantly destroyed. More than 10 million citizens of Ukraine have become refugees, 3.5 million of them have moved to European countries, “the signatories said.
It was noted that the sanctions imposed on Russia failed to force Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin to end the war, stop the death of innocent people and the destruction of the neighboring state.
“We, the members of the Anti-War Committee, are convinced of the need to take the most urgent measures to prevent further deaths of the civilian population. This is one of the goals of NATO's overall mission. It is possible to achieve the cessation of the death of the civilian population by establishing a “no-fly zone” regime in the airspace of Ukraine. We call on Western leaders to take such decisions without delay, “the signatories said.
