Kim responded to the President of the Russian Federation with words of friendship dating back to the Second World War.
Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote a letter to the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, in which he stated that the two countries will “jointly expand comprehensive and constructive bilateral relations.” This was reported by Reuters, citing the North Korean news agency KCNA.
In a letter to Kim on the occasion of North Korea's Liberation Day (the day Japan surrendered in World War II – ed.), Putin said that “closer ties are in the interests of both countries and will help strengthen the security and stability of the Korean Peninsula and the Northeast Asian region.”< /p>

Kim also sent a letter to Putin saying that Russian-North Korean friendship was born during World War II after defeating Japan, which occupied the Korean Peninsula. Since then, according to Kim, “strategic and tactical cooperation, support and solidarity” between the two countries have reached a new level thanks to their joint efforts to reflect threats and provocations from hostile military forces.

Kim predicted that cooperation between Russia and North Korea will develop on the basis of the agreement signed in 2019 during her meeting with Putin.
