In a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that European companies would be able to pay for Russian gas in dollars or euros. This was reported by Deutsche Welle.

The money will be transferred to Gazprombank, which is not under sanctions, and will later be transferred to rubles in Russia. The chancellor has not yet agreed to the procedure, but has asked for a written explanation to better understand Putin's proposal.

Earlier, the European Union and the G7 countries refused to pay for Russian energy in rubles , as Vladimir Putin personally demands. The Kremlin responded by saying: “No payment – no gas.”
