The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine addressed the National Security Council and defense with the requirement to apply personal sanctions against church leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church who systematically and actively support the war against Ukraine . According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, 292 deputies voted in favor of Resolution 7332.
Sanctions are proposed against eight ROC figures: >
– Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill
– Head of the External Church Relations Department of the ROC Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk
– Deputy Head of the External Church Relations Department of the ROC Archpriest Mykola Balashov
– Metropolitan of Pskov and Porokhov ROC Tikhon
– Archbishop of Syktyvkar and Komi-Zyryansk ROC Pitirim
– Archpriest of the ROC, preacher and teacher Vladimirov Artemy Vladimirovich
– Archpriest of the ROC, preacher, TV presenter Tkachev Andrei Yurievich
– Russian theologian, teacher and publicist, Doctor of Theology, Professor of Moscow Orthodox of the Theological Academy and Seminary of the Russian Orthodox Church Osipov Alexei Ilyich.
“The spread of the ideology of war and genocide is incompatible with the religious principles of the faith. Russian priests, as well as the political leadership and military of the Russian Federation, must be held accountable for the crime of genocide of the Ukrainian people in accordance with Articles 6, 7 and 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and current Ukrainian law. ” p>

Recall, May 27 Council of the UOC-MP announced a decision on full independence , as well as disagreement with the position of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow on the war in Ukraine.
However, in fact, this statement is a misleading maneuver for society, as UOC-MP announced independence in government back in 1990 , and nothing new was proclaimed at the last Council.
