French President Emmanuel Macron discussed the initiative to create a “European political community” with several EU leaders at once. This is stated in the communiqué of the press service of the Elysee Palace.
The document says the French president spoke with his Italian counterpart, Sergio Matarella, as well as the prime ministers of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, and Sweden, Magdalena Andersson. Macron discussed with all politicians the idea of creating an alternative organization to the European Union, which, in his opinion, should include Ukraine.
The French presidential administration said Matarella agreed with the need to establish a “European political community”, while representatives of the Scandinavian countries expressed readiness to discuss this possibility at the European Council level in the coming weeks.
