It's too early to celebrate the victory. Russia can launch a counteroffensive – Reznikov

According to him, the conquered territories must be protected.

Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov reported that The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region went “much better than expected.” However, he warned that Russia may launch a counteroffensive again, so it is too early to celebrate the victory. It is necessary to carry out work on deoccupation of territories.

“A counteroffensive liberates territory, and after that you have to control it and be ready to defend it,” Reznikov said in an interview with the Financial Times.

According to him, Ukrainian troops are tired after a six-day attack, but morale was at his best, because “the Ukrainians wanted to go into this counteroffensive, we needed this counteroffensive, and this is a sign that Russia can be defeated.”

According to Reznikov, the “Ukrainian blitzkrieg” as a “snowball rolling down the slope” became the biggest failure for Russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
