“It's a routine procedure”: Siemens Energy sees no need to stop Nord Stream

The company believes that Gazprom is manipulating and engaging in blackmail.

Turbine manufacturer Siemens Energy stated that oil leaks , which “Gazprom” talks about, cannot be the reason for the termination of work. This is how the company commented on Gazprom's statement that the export gas pipeline will be completely stopped until the equipment is completely repaired, since the malfunctions detected by Rostechnadzor do not allow for the safe operation of the last operating gas pumping unit, writes Reuters.

“Such leaks usually do not affect the operation of the turbine and can be eliminated on site. This is not the reason for the shutdown of the gas pipeline,” Siemens said in a statement.

As Siemens Energy explained, this is a routine procedure that is part of maintenance work. In the past, the occurrence of such leaks did not lead to a shutdown of production.

In addition, a representative of the company said that although Siemens is not involved in the maintenance of Nord Stream, they are ready to participate in technical work.
