In Germany, they believe that by providing European politicians with lucrative positions, the Kremlin receives lobbyists of its own interests in the West.
German authorities continue to pursue a policy of uncertainty regarding the supply of heavy weapons to Ukraine, but seem determined to increase pressure on the Kremlin in other ways. In particular, the German government proposes to ban EU citizens from holding positions in large Russian companies and state concerns in order to prevent “strategic corruption.” This is reported in Süddeutsche Zeitung.
According to the source, the Cabinet of Ministers of Germany has prepared documents with a proposal to prohibit EU citizens from holding high positions in the boards or supervisory boards of Russian state concerns . This ban should be part of the next package of sanctions against Russia. The document has already been handed over to representatives of other EU members.
The German government believes that such a step is necessary to reduce the shadowy political influence of the Kremlin in EU countries and continental institutions. Providing European politicians (such as, for example, Gerhard Schröder) with high positions and large profits from cooperation with Russian enterprises, Putin and his entourage receive so-called “debtors”, who later begin to lobby for the interests of the Russian Federation in their states .
