China may join the list of countries guaranteeing Ukraine's security

The wording of the international agreement on security guarantees is still being worked out. Apart from Germany, Turkey, France and Italy, China unexpectedly appeared on the list of those interested in signing the agreement.

Currently Germany, Turkey, France and Italy already have publicly stated their intention to sign the international agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine. The wording of such an agreement is being worked out at the level of legal subgroups. Unexpected potential signatories and Russia's attempts to attract allied Belarus were announced by the head of the “Servant of the People” faction David Arahamiya and adviser to the head of the presidential office Mikhail Podoliak.

“We understand that Russia is constantly changing its position. Therefore, we want there to be many countries in this agreement. And today we are talking about working subgroups – how part of the guarantor countries should be implemented,” Podoliak said, adding that the Kremlin has intends to include Belarus in the treaty.

Meanwhile, Arahamiya listed the countries whose representatives orally agreed to become guarantors of security. However, it should be clarified that we are talking about guarantees “after the war”.

These are Germany, Turkey, France and Italy. At the same time, there are statements from Great Britain and the United States of their intention to consider such an agreement, but there is no final agreement on this issue yet. Unexpectedly, China was also on the list of those interested. It will be recalled that the FT recently reported that Russia had appealed to the local authorities for military assistance in the war against Ukraine./p>

Podoliak, for his part, said that Russia wants to include Belarus in the treaty.
