Britain seduces Russian oligarchs by lifting sanctions: conditions are named

The United Kingdom can lift some of the sanctions against Russia, namely sanctions against Russian individuals and companies.

This was stated by British Foreign Secretary Liz Trass in an interview with the Telegraph, quoted by Reuters.

“We know that Russia has signed several agreements that it simply does not adhere to. Therefore, there must be tough levers. Of course, sanctions are tough levers,” Trass said.

At the same time, she noted that sanctions imposed on Russian individuals and companies could be lifted if Russia leaves Ukraine and pledges to end its aggression.

It is known that the British government has now imposed sanctions on banks with total assets of 500 billion pounds ($ 658.65 billion) and Russian oligarchs and their family members with a fortune of more than 150 billion pounds.

We will remind, what in general sanctions for the Russian Federation were imposed by the Great Britain recently:

  • put Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on the sanctions list; 
  • imposed sanctions against 386 deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation who voted for the “independence” of the regions of sovereign Ukraine – Donbass and Luhansk region;
  • imposed sanctions on 65 individuals and legal entities related to Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine;
  • imposed a package of sanctions against oligarchs and five Kremlin-linked banks ;
  • imposed sanctions against Russia aimed at “shutting down vital industries that fuel Putin's military machine”: strategic industries, banks and business elites ;
  • Britain intends to stop importing Russian oil by the end of 2022;
  • The UK government is preparing to temporarily nationalize Gazprom Marketing & Trading Retail Ltd , a gas retail company in the country;
  • Britain closes its ports to Russian ships ;
  • Britain “closed” its skies to Russian planes ;
  • Britain has imposed sanctions on seven Russian oligarchs: Deripaska and Abramovich ;
  • The British government is considering confiscating the mansions of Russian oligarchs in London.
