The government has limited the price of premium fuel

The possibility to set unreasonably high prices for some gas stations has been leveled.

Правительство ограничило цену на премиальное топливо

On March 26, the Cabinet of Ministers issued a decree limiting the price of so-called “premium fuel”. This was announced by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal.

“Today, the government has taken another step to stabilize the fuel market. A decree has been passed regulating that the price of so-called “premium fuel” may not exceed the price of ordinary fuel by more than 5%. Thus, we are leveling the possibility of setting unreasonably high prices for some gas stations, ”the head of government said.

At the same time, he stressed that the formula of pricing for premium fuel established by the Cabinet of Ministers allows fuel companies to receive a fair margin, which means to continue working.
Shmygal also reminded that earlier the government and the parliament had taken a number of steps to stabilize gasoline prices and saturate the market with enough fuel.

“We can already say with confidence that these decisions have paid off. Prices fell by 5-10 hryvnia, and fuel reappeared at many gas stations. Thousands of tons of fuel left Europe for Ukraine, ”he stressed.

It will be recalled that on the eve of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, on February 7, Belarus began blocking the transportation of oil products loaded at Lithuanian Railways stations by rail . After that, Ukrainian gas stations were forced to switch to Belarusian fuel.

In mid-March, the Prime Minister said that Ukraine was establishing new logistics chains for gasoline and diesel and was negotiating with the world's largest companies .

At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers agreed to abolish the value added tax and excise tax on fuel, and a few days later the Verkhovna Rada passed the necessary bill.

On March 19, it became known that Ukraine imported the first thousand tons of fuel from Europe to replace supplies from Belarus.

On March 19, gas stations massively reduced fuel prices . The average price of A-92 decreased by UAH 7.86 / l, to UAH 33.69 / l, A-95 – by UAH 7.84 / l, to UAH 34.42 / l, and the price of diesel fuel – to 37.17 UAH / l (-5.85 UAH / l).
