Belarusian parliament approves death penalty for attempted international terrorism and assassination of statesmen

Belarus is the only country in Europe where the death penalty is allowed and applied.

The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus (upper house of parliament) has approved amendments to the law on executions , which expand the possibilities of its application , transmits “ Belta ».

The death penalty in Belarus can be used for:

  • attempt to assassinate a representative of a foreign state or international organization in order to provoke international complications or war;

  • attempt to assassinate a statesman or public figure in order to influence the decision-making of the authorities, intimidate the population, destabilize public order.
