In Romania, wagons carrying grain from Ukraine were transported from the port of Constanta to the station of Christiesti in the county of Iasi.

According to local media, a private train of 32 cars carried 733 tons of grain. The railway branch had to be temporarily closed due to an accident. The company will conduct an investigation to establish the reasons for what happened, Newsmaker writes.

As a result of derailment of 11 cars, 7 high-voltage pylons that provided power to the catenary were broken.

Previously, Romania stated that it would increase the transportation of Ukrainian grain through its territory to reduce threats of global hunger . It was reported that the port of Constanta, the largest in the Black Sea, became the main gateway for sending Ukrainian grain to other parts of the world. Last year, a record 25 million tons of grain passed through the port.

Since the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine, 242,000 tons of Ukrainian grain have been transported through Constanta. This corresponds to 1.21% of last year's 20 million tons of grain that Ukraine now wants to export.
