Siemens is reaping the benefits of cooperation with Russia: the company is outraged that Russia is blaming it for the gas crisis in Europe

Siemens' cooperation with Russia has resulted in another scandal in which the company got into.

German energy company Siemens Energy rejects accusations from Russia that gas supplies to Germany had to be reduced due to late maintenance of turbines.

As reported by DW, he said Joe Kezer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens Energy.

“It is very convenient to involve a company that is well known in Russia,” Kezer said.

Recall that the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom in mid-June significantly reduced gas supplies to Germany via the Nord Stream-1 pipeline, explaining it by a delay in repair of equipment by the German concern Siemens.

In the summer of 2017, Siemens was already embroiled in a scandal after it emerged that the company had supplied gas turbines to Russia, which were later installed in the occupied Crimea, which is subject to EU sanctions. Siemens even promised to initiate criminal proceedings in connection with the supply of turbines to the Crimea. The company claimed that the equipment hit the occupied peninsula against the will of the manufacturer. However, the company's turbines are still operating in the Crimea. In particular, because Russian court rejects Siemens' lawsuit against “Crimean turbines” . And Siemens did not apply to any other courts.

At the same time, there was a report that Siemens is allegedly considering leaving the Russian joint ventures , namely Siemens Gas Turbine Technology LLC and Interautomatics. But the company declined to comment on this information. And they didn't go out of business .

However, after the start of Russia's full-scale war in Ukraine, Siemens' statement of May 12, 2022 finally stated that the company has suspended all new business and international deliveries to Russia and Belarus.

Among other things, Siemens has refused to supply new devices, including high-speed electric trains “Peregrine”.

At the same time the company still continues maintenance of the same trains “Peregrine”, and also “Swallow” – within service contracts.
