Among the necessary actions are Russia's disconnection from SWIFT and sanctions against all members of Putin's United Russia party.
The leaders of Poland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic have drawn up an action plan for the EU, which they believe is capable of supporting Ukraine and ending the war. The material with the corresponding list, written by the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, was published by Politico .
To increase the chances of ending the war, the EU must:
- Disconnect all Russian banks from the international payment system SWIFT. Otherwise, the Russian economy will adapt to the new conditions within a few weeks.
- Introduce a unified asylum policy for Russian soldiers who refuse to serve the criminal regime in Moscow.
- Stop Russian propaganda in Europe completely. Freedom of speech does not mean the right to lie.
- Block Russian ships in EU ports.
- Impose a blockade of road transport to and from Russia.
- Impose sanctions not only on Russian oligarchs, but also on their entire business environment.
- Suspend the issuance of visas to all Russian citizens who want to enter the EU. The Russian people must understand that they will have to rake up the consequences of this war. “And we hope that they will turn away from Putin,” Moravetsky added.
- Impose sanctions on all members of Putin's United Russia party. They know very well what is happening in Ukraine, and their complicity is indisputable.
- Introduce a total ban on the export to Russia of technologies that can be used for military purposes.
- Exclude Russia from all international organizations. “We can't sit at the same table with criminals,” Moravetsky said.
“If this does not stop the war, then we must move on. In Kiev, we proposed a peacekeeping mission under the auspices of NATO and other international organizations. If we cannot impose effective sanctions, we have no choice: we must protect the people of Ukraine with our own shields, “the Polish prime minister wrote.
Moravetsky stressed that Russia's presence of a nuclear arsenal could not justify the EU's passivity.
“We must be aware of this threat, but it cannot deter us. Otherwise, Putin will only go further. What will we do if Putin moves to Chisinau, the capital of Moldova, next time? Or if he attacks Vilnius and Warsaw? What if he wants to occupy Helsinki? Will we start taking this threat seriously only when he sends tanks to Berlin? The line must be drawn, and it must be drawn now, “the statement said.
According to the leaders of the three countries, their proposed plan is not only possible but necessary.
“We must find the courage not to turn away from Ukraine's suffering and accept this historic challenge,” the leaders said.
