In addition to cultural events for citizens forced to flee the war, the center plans to conduct an information campaign among the local population to explain to the Germans exactly what is happening in Ukraine.
In the German city of Dresden, which currently received temporary protection of several thousand Ukrainian citizens, solemnly opened the cultural center “Ukrainian House”. The Ukrinform correspondent spoke with the project coordinator Tetyana Ivanchenko and learned the details.
According to the organizers of “Ukrainian House”, the idea of creating such a cultural center appeared at the beginning of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war. However, preparations for the opening took a long time. Funds for the project were collected from all available sources – part of the funding was received from the local authorities, part from various funds, charity meetings were also held. There were also certain difficulties with the search for premises, but the high-ranking officials of Dresden helped to settle this issue as well. So “Ukrainian House” was located in a large shopping complex in the very center of the city.

The cultural center already has a small library with about 400 Ukrainian-language books, an exhibition of paintings, and a place for classes with children of all ages. In addition, Ukrainian House plans to hold various painting workshops, Ukrainian and German language courses, discussion clubs and much more.
According to Tetyan Ivanchenko, the project involves working with three target audiences:
- refugees and persons who received temporary protection, because they need help with adaptation in new conditions;
- Ukrainians who have been living in Germany for a long time;
< li> German citizens and foreigners who need to be shown Ukrainian culture and explain what is really happening in Ukraine.
