Ukraine arrested 12 planes of Russian Volga-Dnepr airline by court decision

The planes were arrested, according to the Antonov state enterprise.

The Sviatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv arrested 12 An-124-100 Ruslan transport aircraft of the Volga-Dnepr airline as part of criminal proceedings opened at the request of the Antonov state enterprise. This is stated in the court ruling, according to the law firm “Ilyashev and Partners”, representing the interests of the state enterprise, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.

“The decision was sent to all competent authorities in the relevant jurisdictions. Therefore, the procedure for implementing this precautionary measure has already been launched,” said Roman Marchenko, senior partner, head of international arbitration practice at Ilyashev & Partners.

According to the decisions of the local authorities, three An-124-100 “Ruslan” planes of the “Volga-Dnepr” airline are prohibited from leaving Germany, one – from Canada.

The arrest was imposed in order to ensure the safety of physical evidence and subsequent compensation.

Rosaviatsiya illegally granted the right to a company belonging to the Volga-Dnepr group of companies to issue certificates of airworthiness to Ruslana. In fact, in recent years, Volga-Dnepr has issued certificates to itself, endangering the safe operation of aircraft, which is a flagrant violation of international conventions, “the law firm explained.

The planes are to be handed over to the Ukrainian National Agency for the Detection, Investigation and Management of Assets Obtained from Corruption and Other Crimes.
