The Syrians have failed in their plan to recruit mercenaries for the war in Ukraine – the GUR

Despite the promises of the Syrian leadership, the Russians did not receive a clear answer.

Сирийцы провалили план вербовки наемников для войны в Украине - ГУР

The leadership of the Syrian army did not provide Russia, as it demanded, with clear lists of Syrian volunteers who were planned to be sent to fight on the side of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

So, the day before, a meeting took place between the commander of the Russian group in the southern provinces of Syria, General of the Russian Armed Forces Alexander Zhuravlev and the commander of the 8th Brigade in the southern Syrian province of Dera, Colonel Nasim Abu Irra. During the meeting, the Russian general demanded to compile and provide a list of names and personal information of militants from the Abu Irra and Syrian Defense Forces, who are ready to take part in the war against Ukraine, but the Syrian colonel did not give a clear answer. But he promised to get in touch after consultations “with other representatives of the leadership of the 8th Brigade.”

“To date, the preliminary promises of the Syrian authorities on the systematic supply of mercenaries to the Russian army are not being fulfilled. Most of the Syrian military is not ready to risk their lives for the sake of ghostly monetary satisfaction, “the GUR said.

At the same time, the Russians are trying to agree on the recruitment of mercenaries from the 16th Brigade of the Syrian Arab Republic.
