The Russian ruble is strengthening, but there is a factor that can stop it

We need to abandon Russian exports.

The strengthening of the Russian currency contributes to a sharp decline in imports in Russia and, as a consequence, a decrease in demand for foreign currency from importers. RosZMI writes about this.

Another additional factor is the introduction of a 12 percent commission for the purchase of foreign currency, which has cooled speculative demand from the population. Plus, the government's decision to transfer payment for exported gas in rubles is in hand.

However, buyers of Russian exports say they may refuse to pay for it in rubles or refuse Russian exports altogether.

“In this case, exports will decline, which will limit the supply of foreign currency in the country,” – say experts in Russia.

To abandon energy exports, Europeans need to work hard.

Poland has criticized the EU for its inconsistent stance on sanctions against Russia.

Latvia has named a way to get rid of Russian gas. Latvia's prime minister says it should move to nuclear energy.
