Moscow threatened Washington that recognition Russia as a state-sponsor of terrorism will become a “point of no return”. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation does not rule out that Russia may lower the level of diplomatic relations with the United States or even break them. This was stated by the director of the North American Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Darchiev, according to rosZMI.
Darchyev called the situation in relations between the countries “turbulent”. According to him, Western states, led by the USA, “trampled international law and absolute taboos in diplomatic practice”.
“If it [the initiative to declare the Russian Federation a sponsor of terrorism – ed.] is implemented, it will mean that Washington has crossed the point of no return with the most serious collateral damage to bilateral diplomatic relations,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry threatened.
He added that in such in this case, Moscow can reduce the level of diplomatic relations with Washington or even break them.
