The President of Indonesia doubts that Putin will go to the G20 summit

He got this impression after talking with the head of the Kremlin.

President of Indonesia Joko Widodo expressed doubt that that Russian President Vladimir Putin will join the G20 summit on the Indonesian island of Bali on November 15-16. Widodo said that he had a “strong feeling” of such a development in an interview with the Financial Times.

According to the Indonesian leader, he formed this opinion after talking with the president of the aggressor state. However, he added that the Russians can still participate in the G20 event.

Meanwhile, Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the participation of the head of the Russian Federation in the meeting will be announced by the end of this week.

< p>In addition, Widodo said that Indonesia hopes to promote international dialogue to counter the “very worrying” rise in tensions.

He also noted the impact of the geopolitical situation on the summit, stressing: “G20 should not be a political forum. It should be dedicated to the economy and development”.

Indonesia plans to primarily devote the discussion on November 15-16 to food and energy security.
