The Ministry of Health allowed everyone a second booster against COVID-19 and vaccination of children from the age of 5

Ukraine also changed the vaccine combination scheme.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine allowed the second booster coronavirus vaccination for everyone who wants to. The second booster dose should be administered at an interval of at least four months after the first booster dose, the chief state sanitary doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin said during a briefing on Monday.

Before that, the second booster was allowed only for people from risk groups.< /p>

The Ministry of Health also approved new vaccination schedules in accordance with the recommendation of WHO, EMA and ECDC and the National Technical Expert Group on Immunization.

Among the main changes, the CoronoVac vaccine can be used for booster vaccination after other vaccines.

Among other things, the minimum period between the basic course and the first booster has been reduced.Previously, it was necessary to wait at least six months for this, now five is enough. According to the latest research, it is about the most optimal time

Also, vaccination against coronavirus is allowed for children aged 5 and over. Earlier in Ukraine vaccination was allowed only for children aged 12 and over.

“Informed consent of parents or guardians is mandatory for children aged 5-11 years. It is about form N 063-2/o in accordance with Article 43 “Basics of legislation on health care”. Children aged 5 to 11 will be vaccinated with the Comirnaty vaccine from Pfizer. Currently, Ukraine is waiting for a suitable vaccine for children, because it is a different dosage. We will also announce the details later when the vaccine is available in Ukraine,” Kuzin noted.

In general, adult Ukrainians aged 18 and over should receive a basic course of vaccinations against COVID-19 with one dose of Janssen vaccine or two doses of CoronaVac vaccines or Comirnaty from Pfizer.

Five months after the primary (basic) course, all people over the age of 18 should get their first booster shot. It can also be made with CoronaVac, Comirnaty from Pfizer or Janssen

Four months after the first booster vaccination, adults at risk of a severe course of COVID-19 should receive a second booster vaccination. Other adults can also receive a second booster vaccination.
